I'm leaving for Santa Fe today. Two weeks. I love city jobs--I'm a half-time employee and I get two weeks' vacation a year. So of course I'm taking it all at once!

I'll be staying with my folks, and my brother and his family are coming out for a visit for a couple days right in the middle. That'll be a lot of fun. And quite by accident I'll be there during the annual hot air balloon festival. Bonus.



The downside--I'm going by myself. Des is just too, too busy right now. We discussed having her come out for a weekend at least, but she can't even swing that. Our weekend trip down to Santa Barbara two weeks ago was soiled by the fact that she couldn't fully enjoy herself due to her ongoing work commitments. It would be more of the same if she came out to Santa Fe with me.

So...two weeks apart. We haven't been apart for more than a couple days since I moved up here in 2005. This'll be interesting. We'll miss each other, but this gives us both a chance to get caught up on work (me: writing; she: transcribing) and refocus a bit. Or, as Sideshow Bob put it, "I'll go out for a healthy constitutional and return more in love with you than ever." Still gonna suck though. :-/

So all of you LJ friends of hers out there, I expect you to give her a call during the next couple weeks and keep her company, cuz she gonna be all alone and lonely!
